Hi there !!

So, as I'm preparing my trip to florida next february, I'm here to have some advices about the fishes I can get in freshwaters, the tackle I need and why not famous places to go (I'm not here to "crab" any secret spot... I'm talkin' about famous spots like the memphremagog is for québec... Sorry I don't know anything about florida...).

Just to be clear :

what species of fishes I can lures fish ?

what tackle do I need ? Reel ratios ? Rod strenght ? I usually travel with a 3 parts MH casting rod and a 3 part L spinning rod. Any type of "must have" lures ?

are they some "must go" places, like famous lakes, rivers ???

And something more precise : is it any way to rent a lil' boat somewhere to fish the Miami channels, seekin' for peacock basses ? I've red that it's strictly impossible to fish those places from the banks, because of all the properties including the river bank... But I really love peacock basses ^^

thanks for replies !!! See you some sunny days !!!

Sound like you are mostly interested in south Florida. I'm in the Florida Panhandle, a long way from the Miami area.

I have read a good bit about fishing Peacock Bass in the canals down there and it sure looks like a great deal of fun. The most famous lake in Floirda is Lake Okeeochbee in south central Florida. Just search fishing Lake Okeeochbee and you will get hundreds of hits. Many will lead to peacock bass information.

If you are interested in crappie fishing go to www.crappie.com and to the Florida thread. There is a very large and active snowbird community that winters in central and south Florida and they really know their stuff on crappie down there.

Hope this helps a little.
