I haven't fished Talquin in probably five years but the last time I was there it still had some really nice fish in it. My father-in-law used to fish it a good bit years ago. I fished it in the spring. Bait color to me was anything resembling sunfish/bream. Also, its FL, so junebug is always good. Seems to me anywhere I've fished in Florida, junebug was good.

I caught my fish swimming a bream colored jig around the pads and back in the root systems of the trees and I also liked a big paddle tail worm (junebug.) Most in the 2-5' depth range. I also caught some nice fish out in the standing timber on dd 22 in chartreuse/brown back. My biggest bass from there was only around 7 lbs but I saw a lot that were bigger.

Be careful running that lake. I saw folks doing it, but I never travelled over idle speed due to all the standing timber. There were huge trees standing up in 20' of water.
