I am going to marathon fl in march april.

I would like to take my john boat and try to fish gulf side close to shore.

I have a 14 foot jon boat with a honda 9.9 and trolling motor.

I want to know if this is safe enough if I am going to be close to shore?

I want to know where to go? Can we get to mangrove areas?

I have a 10 year old son with me?

Make sure you wear your life jackets, stay very close to shore, and only go out when the water is very flat.

Grassy Key would be a good place to explore. You have mangroves, flats and some decent fish to chase. I have kayaked all over the area.

yea.as long as you stay not to far from the edge and hug the coast and fish the little islands out there. fish threw vaca cut lots of action there snook,mangrove snapper,tarpon,spanish mackeral,cuddas.gulf side you should be fine
