GOING to fish lake crescent next week for the first time for crappie. longlining jigs. any tips on colors, areas,depth?

Are there really lakes you can catch crappies in Florida?

If you know of a crappie/bluegill lake in the Tampa Bay area I would like to know about it. The only one we have found so far is Lake Seminole, and the fish are rather small. Better for catfishing at this lake.

I actually guide for crappie from February-April. With a jonboat. It's on the east side of Gainesville, a nice lake with cypress forest. Our biggest crappie are only 12 inches, however, except in rare cases. But we catch plenty of them in 2-3 feet of water, on artificials. I would say 25 to 75 fish per trip.
